Professional public administrators throughout Illinois needed an effective state affiliate of the world’s largest association of professional public administrators to provide access to professional development activities and other benefits.
CGS worked with leaders in the profession to establish the ILCMA and provided administrative support services to support its development.
CGS has contracted with the Illinois City/County Management Association for almost 40 years. CGS provides professional administrative management, resource and program development, conference and meeting management, administrative support, internal communications, member/constituent relations, and external communications/public relations.

The emerging profession of geographic information specialists was forming rapidly throughout units of government in Illinois. Members of this new profession lacked the ability to network with each other to keep their skills current and to identify new ways to use this style of analysis to provide public benefit.
CGS staff and NIU faculty with GIS expertise encouraged the emergence of this new profession and, after exploratory meetings, the formation of its own professional association. CGS offered to provide administrative and management services to help establish this new association.
CGS has provided the Illinois Geographic Information Systems Association with professional management services for over 15 years. Support includes administrative support, resource and program development, conference and meeting management, board development, website maintenance, internal and external communications, and member and constituent relations.
