CLANIU's Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) will be entering its 8th year of offering engaging and timely training programs for elected and appointed leaders and senior managers in government and not-for-profit agencies in the state of Illinois.

The Academy's seminars allow for in-person interactions with fellow participants and instructors using experiential learning techniques. The training program offers a series of workshops across an array of topics central to being an effective governmental leader in the 21st century. The one–day workshops are designed to give participants new skills for personal effectiveness and growth in their professional/
governmental roles. Each workshop stands on its own. However, taken together the entire series provides the tools necessary to be a leader in tackling the challenges of a changing region.

Upon completion, participants who have completed four courses (two core courses and two electives) are eligible for recognition via a Certificate of Completion.

Watch for the fall 2011 line up of day-long seminars. If you would like to be notified when the schedule has been posted or have comments, please e-mail CivicLeadershipAcademy@niu.edu.
